Quickly run down to your nearest PC store and buy a new mouse, simple? Well, there's a more simple solution if you need a quick fix to finish the task in hand immediately without having to buy a new one. When you can type without the keyboard, you can move the pointer as well without the mouse.

Follow these steps to use keyboard as a mouse:

1. Click on the "Start Menu".
2. Go to "Control Panel".
3. Click (double-click for ClassicView) on "Accessibility Options".
4. Click on the "Mouse" Tab.
5. Tick the checkbox "Use MouseKeys". You can adjust the pointer speed by clicking on "Settings".
6. Click OK.

How do I make these changes when my mouse itself has stopped working, you ask?

Just press LEFT ALT + LEFT SHIFT + NUM LOCK all at once. You will see pop-up window, just click OK to activate the MouseKeys.

Windows 7/Vista:

1. Go to Control Panel.
2. Click on "Ease of Access" and then "Ease of Access Center".
3. Click Make the mouse easier to use.
4. Now under Control the mouse with the keyboard, tick the "Turn on Mouse Keys" check box.

Use the numeric keypad keys 4, 6, 2 and 8 to move the mouse pointer Left, Right, Up and down respectively. Key "0" for Left click action and "+" for Right click.
